time limit Posted by goombah (VIP) Mar 28 2006 5:02PM Can someone explain the difference that 1 min per move is helping anything. Even the slowest never approach 1 min delay Have you ever Posted by jja15 (VIP) Mar 29 2006 8:15AM My dear Goombah, as one of the proponents of the 1 minute move, I can say that it does make a difference in many ways. The most important one is psychologically it is forcing those S....L....O....W....players to pay attention to the clock. The second most important reason is that you save 4 minutes per occurrence when they do not play and get put on the clock. Tournaments are supposed to be fun and challenging. They had gotten to be less fun with the SLOWS and the only challenge was whether or not you would make the next tournament. Remember, there were plenty of tournaments that you were in the finals when the next one started. That doesn't seem to happen as much anymore. I for one applaud the changing of the limit and hope that those who are still taking more than half that time for each move realize that someone is trying to tell them something. Good cards to all. |
